Boy Scouts – Leaders of Tomorrow, promoting community services and civic responsibility

There are certain times of year when as business owners we are approached to give from our resources to any number of charitable, and community events.

Fundraising is the gentle art of teaching the joy of giving. – Henry Rosso
When we give out of our own business resources, we are helping to be a part of a change in the world, even if it is only in our own back yards; our own communities. Most business owners do not give because they have too, they do it because of the way it makes them feel when they do it. Knowing that their donation to a worthy cause might help make things better for someone else who is struggling in their community, has its own intricate value. Once in a while, we even give out of our own needs.

Most giving is 80% emotion and 20 % rational. And the best way to get to someone’s emotions is to tell a story. – Unknown

How often have you gone to your local supermarket and been approached by boy scouts selling scouting tickets for a dinner, car washes, or tools and gadgets?

What do these scouts gain in return? Their reward is in the receiving of merit badges, and project money. Project money, I might add, that often goes back into helping the community in which they serve. It is also common to see entire boy scout troops presenting our nation’s colors at the various events throughout town.

Your Donation to these youth shows your own appreciation for their service, no matter how young they are. Your change can change lives. Your change can make a change.

Scouting is a time-honored tradition. One that instill a sense of purpose and belonging within our youth. It helps instill values and builds character; while at the same time training them in the responsibilities of becoming a productive citizen. If you are interested In donating toward a scouting cause. I would encourage you to visit the Boy Scouts of American website for more details. http://aplacetogive.scouting.org/

I do acknowledge that it is not just the boy scouts. It is also your girl scouts, humane society, and public radio stations. That is just the start; entire cheer and football teams plan out full-day fundraising events in shifts. I also encourage you to seek out those like-minded organizations, and Give!

Donating to non-profits is, of course, tax deductible. How you decide to donate, be it in services, money, trips, or merchandise –is just an express of how you share hope. Thank you.
