Street Soccer USA

 

The sport of soccer has had a great social impact on youth all across the country. Many cities and small towns offer soccer through their summer recreational programs. The social impact is positive for both boys and girls. Businesses often contribute to the sport, and many help with the much-needed funding for camps, team clothing (available to be personalized from Imprint), shoes, shin guards, and soccer balls.

On a larger scale, nine years ago Rob and Lawrence Cann at the Urban Ministry Center in Charlotte, NC, founded Street Soccer USA. With the assistance of HELP USA, many street leagues have cropped up 8 major cities across the US. Its mission is to fight poverty and empower underserved communities through soccer. To use soccer as strategic lessons that translate the learnings of sports to real life.

SOS Outreach

Helping kids gear up for life

 

SOS Outreach provides youth with positive youth mentoring. They help kids gear up for life, by learning to become grounded in outdoor adventures.

They are not just teaching kids to snowboard, ski, hike, climb, and camp. SOS Outreach guides youth through a peer mentoring program that helps them connect with others and their community. Their goal is: ” to inspire our kids with a sense of purpose, ultimately preparing them with the unique skills and strengths to contribute to the world beyond themselves.”

With six full-time offices in three western states and a number of national partnerships with ski resorts and the US Forest Service, They are well known in the western part of the country. States like Utah, Nevada, California, Colorado. It’s through business support that these types of programs are running. There is a pretty impressive dedicated circle of givers, who give both in-kind and monetary support. Lots of opportunities to donate and get involved.

Challenged Athletes Foundation

 

Founded in 1997 to give people with physical disabilities the same chance as anyone else to participate in competitive athletics or pursue active lifestyles. “It is the mission of the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) to provide opportunities and support to people with physical challenges, so they can pursue active lifestyles through physical fitness and competitive athletics. The Challenged Athletes Foundation believes that involvement in sports at any level increases self-esteem, encourages independence and enhances the quality of life. “

Walk A Mile In Her Shoes

 

Maybe this isn’t a sport or a recreational activity – yet! But if you ever put on a pair of bright red stiletto shoes and walked a mile in them, then you might be wondering if it should be.
